Canoga Park is a neighborhood located in the San Fernando Valley within the city of Los Angeles, California. Historically, the area was part of a rancho prior to the Mexican–American War. Following the American victory, the land was utilized for wheat farming before being subdivided into smaller plots.
A portion of the neighborhood was originally established as the town of Owensmouth in 1912. The area was subsequently annexed by Los Angeles in 1917 and was officially renamed Canoga Park on March 1, 1931, in reference to Canoga, New York.
