Calexico is a city located in southern Imperial County, California, in the United States. It is situated on the Mexican border and forms part of the larger populated area known as the Imperial Valley, along with six other incorporated cities in the county. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 38,633.
The city is positioned approximately 122 miles east of San Diego and 62 miles west of Yuma, Arizona. It maintains a significant economic link with Mexicali, which is the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California. Originally explored by Europeans in the 18th century, Calexico began as a small tent community before being officially incorporated in 1908.
