Apache Junction is a city located in the state of Arizona, United States. It spans across both Pinal and Maricopa counties, with the majority of its population residing within Pinal County. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 38,499.
The city was named for the junction where the Apache Trail meets the Old West Highway. Historically, the area that now comprises Apache Junction was known as Youngberg. The local geography is characterized by its proximity to Superstition Mountain, which serves as the westernmost peak of the Superstition Mountains located to the east.
