Tuscaloosa is a city located in west-central Alabama, United States. It serves as the county seat of Tuscaloosa County and is situated on the Black Warrior River at the intersection of the Gulf Coastal and Piedmont plains. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 99,600, with estimates reaching 114,288 by 2025, making it Alabama's fifth-most populous city.
Historically known as Tuskaloosa until the early 20th century, the city is also referred to as "the Druid City." This nickname stems from the numerous water oaks that have been planted in its downtown streets since the 1840s.
