Ibanda is a town located in the Western Region of Uganda. It serves as the primary political, administrative, and commercial hub for Ibanda District and houses the district headquarters.
The settlement originated in the 1990s, evolving from a trading centre into a town board and subsequently a town council. In 2016, it was officially granted municipality status. The Ibanda Municipal Council commenced operations on July 1, 2016, following its elevation and the annexation of several sub-counties.
The municipality is organized into three divisions: Kagongo, Bisheshe, and Bufunda. It comprises 21 wards—including Kyaruhanga, Nyamirima, and Kigarama—and encompasses over 230 villages.
