Kasanje

Kasanje is a city located in Uganda. It serves as a geographical point within the country's regional landscape.

The region is historically associated with the Kasanje Kingdom, also known as the Jaga Kingdom, which was a Central African state that existed from 1620 to 1910. The kingdom was established by a mercenary band of Imbangala who had deserted Portuguese ranks and settled along the upper Kwango River under the leadership of Kasanje.

The Kasanje people were governed by a king known as the kinguri, who was elected from among the three clans that founded the kingdom.
