Entebbe is a city located in Central Uganda on the Lake Victoria peninsula. It is situated approximately 36 kilometres southwest of Kampala, which serves as the nation's capital.
Historically, Entebbe served as the seat of government for the Protectorate of Uganda before the country gained independence in 1962. Today, it remains a significant administrative hub as the location of State House, the official residence and office of the President of Uganda.
The city is home to Entebbe International Airport, which is Uganda's largest commercial and military airport. The facility gained international prominence in 1976 during an Israeli rescue operation involving 100 hostages held by militant groups.
