Melitopol is a city and municipality located in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast in southeastern Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of the Melitopol Raion and holds the position of the second-largest city in the oblast, following Zaporizhzhia.
The city is situated on the Molochna River, which flows through the eastern portion of the municipality into the Molochnyi Lyman estuary. As of January 2022, the population of Melitopol was estimated to be approximately 148,851 residents.
