Uhlia

Ukraine

Uhlia is an extinct genus of coryphoid palm that is represented by a single species, Uhlia allenbyensis. The genus is primarily known from permineralized remains discovered within the Princeton Chert in British Columbia, Canada.

The fossilized leaves of Uhlia exhibit distinct "tar spot"-like fungal infections caused by the extinct ascomycete Paleoserenomyces. These infections were further characterized by hyperparasitism by another ascomycete, Cryptodidymosphaerites.
