Volodymyr is a small city located in the Volyn Oblast of northwestern Ukraine. Formerly known as Volodymyr-Volynskyi from 1944 to 2021, it currently serves as the administrative center of the Volodymyr Raion and the center of the Volodymyr urban hromada. The city has a population of approximately 37,910 residents.
As one of the oldest cities in Ukraine, Volodymyr is recognized as the historic center of the Volhynia region. It holds significant historical importance as it served as the capital of the Principality of Volhynia and later functioned as one of the capital cities of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia.
