Konotop is a city situated in northeastern Ukraine within the Sumy Oblast. It serves as the administrative center for the Konotop Raion and is located approximately 129 kilometres (80 mi) from the oblast's administrative center, Sumy.
The city has a population of 83,543 residents. Notable infrastructure in the region includes the Konotop Air Base.
