Siverskodonetsk, officially renamed in 2024 from Sievierodonetsk or Severodonetsk, is a city located in the Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine. It is situated approximately 110 km (68 mi) northwest of Luhansk, the administrative center of the oblast. The city's name is derived from the Donets river, which lies to its northeast.
The city faces the neighboring town of Lysychansk across the Donets river. Prior to recent events, Siverskodonetsk had a population of 99,067, making it the second-most populous city in the Luhansk Oblast. Since June 2022, the city has been under military occupation and administered by Russia.
