Sudak is a city of regional significance located in Crimea, a territory recognized by most countries as part of Ukraine but annexed by Russia as the Republic of Crimea. It serves as the administrative center of the Sudak Municipality. The city is situated 57 km (35 mi) west of Feodosia and 104 km (65 mi) east of Simferopol, the capital of the republic.
The city has a history as multiple former Eastern Orthodox bishoprics and a double Latin Catholic titular see. As of recent records, Sudak has a population of 16,492 residents.
