Simferopol, also known as Aqmescit, is a city located on the Crimean Peninsula. It serves as the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and is recognized as the second-largest city in the region.
While Simferopol and the rest of Crimea are internationally recognized as part of Ukraine, the territory is currently under Russian control.
