Saltivka is a large residential area situated in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, located in eastern Ukraine. It primarily covers the Saltivskyi District, with portions extending into the Kyivskyi and Nemyshlyanskyi Districts. The area is sometimes referred to as the Saltivskyi Masyv.
The neighborhood reflects a Soviet urban planning concept characterized by several distinct neighborhoods featuring similar architectural designs. While it has a reputation for being a deprived residential area with outdated and dilapidated housing, it remains one of the largest residential areas in Ukraine. More than one-third of Kharkiv's total population resides within its boundaries, with historical estimates suggesting a population between 400,000 and 800,000 residents.
