Kupyansk, also known as Kupiansk, is a city located in the Kharkiv Oblast of Ukraine. Situated within the historic region of Sloboda Ukraine, it serves as the administrative center for the Kupiansk Raion and hosts the administration of the Kupiansk urban hromada.
The city is characterized by its role as an important railroad junction for the oblast. While it previously had a population of 26,627, demographic data indicates significant decline in recent years; the population was recorded at more than 3,500 in February 2024 and further decreased to 560 by November 2025.
