Halych

Ukraine

Halych is a historic city located on the Dniester River in western Ukraine. It served as an important administrative and political center in the region's past.

The city provided its name to the Principality of Halych, the historic province of Galicia (Halychyna), and the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia. It functioned as the capital of these entities until the early 14th century, at which point the seat of local rulers moved to Lviv.
