Sloviansk is a city located in the Donetsk Oblast within the northern part of the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine. Historically, the settlement was known by the name Tor until it was renamed Sloviansk in 1784.
The city served as the administrative center for the Sloviansk Raion (district) until that district was officially abolished on July 18, 2020. Although it functioned as the administrative hub, the city did not technically belong to the raion itself during its period of governance.
