Chasiv Yar is a city located in the Bakhmut Raion of the Donetsk Oblast region in Ukraine. It serves as a notable geographical point within the eastern part of the country.
The city has been largely destroyed since the mid-2020s due to the ongoing Russo-Ukraine War. While it had a pre-war population of 12,250 in January 2022, that number decreased to approximately 600 by May 2024 as residents evacuated following Russian shelling and active fighting within the city limits.
