Avdiivka is a city located in the Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. It is situated in the center of the oblast, positioned just north of the regional center, Donetsk.
The city is home to the large Avdiivka Coke Plant. Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the population was recorded at 31,392; however, by October 2023, reports indicated a population of approximately 1,600, with figures later cited as just over 1,000 people living primarily below ground level.
