Marhanets is a city located in the Nikopol Raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center for the Marhanets urban hromada.
The city's geography was historically defined by its location on the right bank of the Kakhovka Reservoir, which was formed where the Dnieper River meets the Tomakivka tributary. Following the destruction of the reservoir during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the city's proximity to these waterways remains a defining geographical feature. The current population of Marhanets is approximately 44,980.
