Dnipro is a city located in eastern Ukraine on the banks of the Dnipro River. Situated approximately 391 km (243 mi) southeast of the national capital, Kyiv, it serves as the administrative center of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and hosts the administration of the Dnipro urban hromada.
The city is Ukraine's fourth-largest urban area, with a population of approximately 968,502 inhabitants. It derives its name from the river on which it is situated.
