Novhorod-Siverskyi is a historic city located in northern Ukraine within the Chernihiv Oblast. It is situated on the bank of the Desna River, approximately 330 kilometres (210 mi) from the capital city of Kyiv. The city currently serves as the administrative center of the Novhorod-Siverskyi Raion.

The city hosts the administration of the Novhorod-Siverskyi urban hromada, one of the local administrative units in Ukraine. Until July 18, 2020, it was classified as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the raion. As of recent data, the population of the city is 12,375.
