Makiivka is an industrial city located in the Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine. Situated approximately 15 kilometers east of Donetsk, the two cities form a practical conurbation. The city was formerly known as Dmytriivsk until it was renamed in 1931.
As of recent data, Makiivka has a population of 338,968 residents. It serves as the administrative center for the Makiivka urban hromada.
