Wanga is a city located in Tanzania.
The region is historically associated with the Wanga Kingdom, which was a traditional kingdom situated in western Kenya. The kingdom was composed of the Wanga (Abawanga) tribe of the Luhya people (Abaluyia).
At its peak, the Wanga Kingdom covered an expansive area stretching from Jinja in the west to Naivasha in the East African Rift. It is recognized as a significant African empire and was considered the most organized structure of government in pre-colonial Kenya regarding political, economic, and military systems.
