Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania situated off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean. The archipelago is composed of numerous small islands along with two primary large landmasses: Unguja Island and Pemba Island.
The capital city, Zanzibar City, is located on Unguja Island. A significant historical feature of the region is Stone Town, which serves as the historic center of the capital and is designated as a World Heritage Site.
