Chala, also known as the "Coast," is one of the eight natural regions located in Peru. It encompasses all western lands rising from sea level up to an elevation of 500 meters.
The coastal desert within this region is largely devoid of vegetation. However, it features a unique fog and mist-fed ecosystem known as Lomas, which is scattered among hills near the Pacific coast at elevations reaching up to 1,000 meters (3,300 ft).
