Shinyanga, also known as Mji wa Shinyanga in the national language, is a city located in northern Tanzania. It serves as the regional headquarters for the Shinyanga Region and functions as the district headquarters for the Shinyanga Urban District.
The region and the district are both named after the city itself. As an administrative hub, it provides the primary governance and local services for its surrounding geographic area in northern Tanzania.
