Tanzania

Mwadui is a city located in Tanzania. While specific geographical details regarding its urban infrastructure are limited, it serves as a regional location within the country's interior.

The area is notable for its proximity to industrial operations, specifically the Williamson Diamond Mine situated approximately 23 kilometres northeast of Shinyanga. This mine is recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating diamond mines in the world, having been established by Canadian geologist John Williamson after a kimberlite pipe was discovered in March 1940.

The mine has produced over 19 million carats of diamonds throughout its history. It gained international significance as the first major diamond mine outside of South Africa and is known for producing high-quality pink diamonds, which have been valued at up to $700,000 per carat.
