Ifakara is a town situated in the Kilombero District of the Morogoro Region in south central Tanzania. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Kilombero District and functions as the primary trading center for both the Kilombero and Ulanga districts.
The town is geographically positioned near the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA) line at the edge of the Kilombero Valley. This region is characterized by a vast swampland that is frequently flooded by the Kilombero River.
