Tukuyu

Tanzania

Tukuyu is a hillside town located in the highland Rungwe District of southern Tanzania, East Africa. Situated approximately 36 miles (58 km) south of the city of Mbeya at an elevation of around 5,000 feet (1,500 m), it was formerly known as Neu Langenburg during the period of German colonial rule.

The town is characterized by a moderate to cool climate, with temperatures ranging from 10 °C in May and June to approximately 20 °C in November. The surrounding area remains green throughout the year due to nearly constant convectional rains resulting from Lake Nyasa. Administratively, Tukuyu is divided into several wards, including Kawetere, Msasani, Bulyaga, and Bagamoyo.
