Butiama

Butiama is a town and the capital of the Butiama District, situated in the Mara Region of northern Tanzania. It serves as a significant cultural site as the homeland of the Zanaki people.

The town is notably recognized as the birthplace of Julius Nyerere, who served as the founding father and first president of Tanzania. The Mwalimu Nyerere Museum Centre, located within the town, stands as its primary attraction.
