Kigoma is a city and lake port located in the Kigoma-Ujiji District of Tanzania. Situated on the northeastern shores of Lake Tanganyika, the city sits at an elevation of 775 metres (2,543 ft) and is positioned near the borders of Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The city serves as the capital for the surrounding Kigoma Region. It has a recorded population of 232,388 residents.
