Kibondo District is one of the six districts located within the Kigoma Region of Tanzania. It serves as a geographical subdivision situated in the western part of the country.
The district is defined by several neighboring boundaries: it is bordered to the north by Kakonko District, to the east by the Tabora Region, and to the south by Uvinza District. To the west, it borders Kasulu District, while its northwestern boundary meets the international border of Burundi.
