Zile, historically known as Zela, is a city located in north-central Turkey within the Tokat Province. It serves as the administrative seat of the Zile District. Geographically, the city is situated to the south of Amasya and to the west of Tokat.
The city possesses a long history, notably serving as a former bishopric. It was also the site of the Battle of Zela, an event that prompted Julius Caesar's famous phrase "Veni, vidi, vici." In the modern era, Zile functions as a center for tourism and agricultural marketing, with a population of 33,557 as of 2022.
