Viranşehir is a municipality and district located in the Şanlıurfa Province of Turkey. It covers an area of 2,297 km² and had a recorded population of 207,315 as of 2022. The town serves as a market center for the surrounding cotton-growing region.
Geographically, Viranşehir is situated approximately 93 km east of the city of Şanlıurfa and 53 km northwest of Ceylanpınar near the Syrian border. Historically, the area was known during Late Antiquity as Constantina or Constantia by the Romans and Byzantines, while it was referred to as Tella by the local Assyrian/Syriac population.
