Niksar is a city located in the Tokat Province of Turkey. It serves as the administrative seat of the Niksar District and has a recorded population of 37,017 as of 2022. Historically, the city was known by the name Neocaesarea.
The region is characterized by its diverse agricultural output, earning it the nickname "Çukurova of North-Anatolia" because of its extensive production of various fruits and vegetables. Additionally, Niksar has been settled by numerous empires throughout history and was included in the World Heritage tentative list on May 2, 2018.
