Milas

Milas is a municipality and district located within the Muğla Province of Turkey. Covering an area of 2,067 km², the city had a population of 147,416 as of 2022. It serves as a regional hub with an active economy and is characterized by its significant historical heritage.

The territory of Milas contains twenty-seven notable archaeological sites and served as the first capital of ancient Caria. During medieval times, it was also the capital of the Anatolian beylik of Menteşe. Additionally, the nearby Mausoleum of Hecatomnus is currently classified as a tentative UNESCO World Heritage Site.
