Gölmarmara is a municipality and district located in the Manisa Province of Turkey. Situated at an elevation of 91 meters (299 feet), the district covers an area of 310 square kilometers and had a population of 15,193 as of 2022. It is located approximately 66 kilometers (41 miles) from the provincial center of Manisa.
The town derives its name from the nearby Lake Marmara, which has been known by various names throughout history. During the Ottoman era, the settlement was a small village referred to by names such as "Marmaracık" or "Mermere." It was established as a township with its own municipality under the district center of Akhisar during the foundation of the Turkish Republic in 1923. In 1987, Gölmarmara was officially designated as a district center in its own right.
