İğneada, formerly known as Thynias, is a town located in the Demirköy District of the Kırklareli Province in Turkey. Situated on the Black Sea coast, it lies approximately 5 kilometers south of the Mutludere River, which serves as the border with Bulgaria.
The region is characterized by oak forests typical of the Yıldız (Istranca) Mountains. The local economy primarily relies on forestry, fishing, and tourism. The population of East Thrace in this area is diverse, consisting of various ethnicities including Turks, Bosniaks, Albanians, Pomaks, Gajal, Muhacir, Tatars, Hill people, Vallahades, Circassians, Romani people, and the Turkmens Amuca tribe.
