Kemalpaşa is a municipality and district located in the İzmir Province of Turkey. It covers an area of 681 km2 and had a population of 114,250 as of 2022. The town center is situated approximately 29 km from the historical center of İzmir (Konak), with the İzmir-Ankara highway crossing the district about 8 km north of the center.
The district is characterized by a mix of industrial development and rural landscapes, resulting in an overall urbanization rate of 25.7%. While the eastern and southern regions remain markedly rural, the western areas host a large organized industrial zone (KOSBİ) that produces a wide variety of goods, including textiles, construction materials, rubber, plastics, machinery, and chemicals. Additionally, agriculture is a significant part of the local economy, specifically noted for its nationally renowned cherries which are exported.
Kemalpaşa borders several districts, including Bornova to the west, Yunusemre, Şehzadeler, and Turgutlu to the north and east, and Torbalı and Bayındır to the south. The district maintains a high literacy rate of 90% and benefits from proximity to Ege University in neighboring Bornova, which provides a pool of trained personnel for its industrial base.
