Bergama

Bergama is a municipality and district located in the İzmir Province of Turkey. It covers an area of 1,544 km² and had a population of 105,754 as of 2022. Excluding the metropolitan area of İzmir, Bergama stands as one of the province's most prominent districts by population, with an urbanization rate of 53.6%.

The center of Bergama is situated approximately 118 km north of the traditional center of İzmir and lies 27 km inland from the coastal town of Dikili to the west. The district's geography is primarily defined by the alluvial plain of the Bakırçay River. It shares borders with several districts in the Balıkesir, Manisa, and İzmir provinces.
