Fatih, also known as the Historical Peninsula, is a municipality and district located in Istanbul Province, Turkey. Covering an area of 15 km2 (5.8 sq mi), it has a population of approximately 368,227 as of 2022. The district encompasses the site of old Constantinople and serves as the location for nearly all provincial authorities, excluding the courthouse.
The geographical boundaries of Fatih are defined by the Golden Horn to the north, the Sea of Marmara to the south, the Bosphorus Strait to the east, and the Theodosian wall to the west. In 2009, the district was expanded to include Eminönü, which had previously functioned as a separate municipality at the tip of the peninsula.
