Samandag

Samandağ is a resort town and municipality located in the Hatay Province of Turkey. Situated on the Mediterranean coast near the border with Syria, the district covers an area of 384 km² and had a population of 123,447 as of 2022. It is positioned at the mouth of the Asi River, approximately 25 km (16 mi) from the city of Antakya.

Formerly known as Süveydiye, the town was significantly impacted by powerful earthquakes in February 2023, which caused heavy damage to the area. It serves as a coastal district characterized by its proximity to both major waterways and international borders.
