İskenderun is a municipality and district located in the Hatay Province of Turkey. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, the city occupies an alluvial plain with a total area of 247 km². As of 2022, its population was recorded at 251,682.
Historically, the city has been known by the names Alexandretta and Scanderoon. In recent years, İskenderun has faced significant destruction due to a series of powerful earthquakes in February 2023, which were followed by subsequent aftershocks, floods, and fires.
