Pamukkale, which translates to "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site located in the Denizli Province of southwestern Turkey. Situated within the Inner Aegean region in the River Menderes valley, the area experiences a temperate climate for most of the year.
The site is primarily known for its unique geological formations consisting of carbonate minerals. These deposits are created by the continuous flow of thermal spring water across the landscape.
