Çanakkale is a city and seaport located in Turkey on the southern shore of the Dardanelles at its narrowest point. Formerly known in English as Dardanelles, it serves as the administrative seat for both Çanakkale Province and Çanakkale District.
As of 2021, the city has a population of 143,622. It is primarily characterized by its strategic maritime location along the strait.
