Testour is a town located in northern Tunisia, situated on the hills of the Medjerda Valley. It is positioned approximately 20 km southwest of Medjez-el-Bab, which serves as a major crossroads connecting Tunis, Béja, and the northern region of the country.
Historically known during the Roman period as Tichilla—a name meaning "the green grass" due to its location at the mouth of the Siliana valley—the town was rebuilt in the 1500s. It was resettled by Muslim and Jewish refugees from Andalusia, who provided the settlement with its distinctive architectural character and layout.
In modern times, Testour serves as a notable pilgrimage site for the Jewish community. Visitors travel to the town specifically to visit the tomb of Rabbi Fraji Chawat.
