Tataouine

Tataouine is a city located in the southern region of Tunisia. It serves as the administrative capital of the Tataouine Governorate.

The area is characterized by unique "cave dwellings" built by the native Amazigh population, which were designed to provide protection and maintain cool temperatures. These architectural features have made the city and its surrounding landscape a notable destination for tourists and filmmakers.

The region also features several fortified settlements known as ksars, which are prominent examples of Amazigh architecture. Notable sites in the vicinity include Ksar Ouled Soltane, Chenini, Douiret, and Ksar Hadada.
