El Mourouj is a town and commune located in the southern suburbs of Tunis within the Ben Arous Governorate of Tunisia. It officially attained commune status in 1991 and serves as the seat of the El Mourouj Delegation. While most of the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Ben Arous Governorate, the specific district of El Mourouj 2 is an exception and is part of the Tunis Governorate.
The town is characterized by significant population growth, with its inhabitants increasing from 81,986 in 2004 to 120,732 by 2022. This growth has made El Mourouj the most populous commune in the Ben Arous Governorate. The delegation is organized into five districts and is bisected from north to south by a main axis known as the Avenue des Martyrs.
